A long submarine sandwich is cut into thirds to make smaller sandwiches. How many long subs are needed to make 12 small sandwiches?

Each long submarine cut into 3rds make 3 small sandwiches.
12 small sandwiches * 1 Large Sub / 3 smalll sandwiches = 4 Large Subs
